Service

42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

- Mark 10:42-45

What Service Is

God has provided for our needs, and also doted upon us with many wonderful gifts. We have been delighted over and served by our good and gracious Father. Because of His example and the commands of the Bible, we are called to provide service for others.

We believe service is a two-way relationship that benefits everyone involved. We don’t just identify someone’s need and dump resources on them. Instead, we see value and dignity in all people, and we know we all benefit when we serve one another. Our service allows all of us to be lifted up and encouraged so that we can live our lives as God intended. At the same time, service provides an opportunity to build relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

How We Do Service

We develop partnerships with community organizations to provide ongoing service for our neighbors. Previous events include an Evening with Santa at the Bladensburg Community Center, and a Back to School Supply Drive with Women Offering Wealth and the Magic Johnson Empowerment Center.
